Legrett Blunt, who ran after the former NFL, has announced his retirement from football.
The three-time Super Bowl champion revealed on Instagram on Saturday morning that he officially calls it a career.
“I just want to let you all know that I’m officially retiring,” wrote Blount, who last played in 2018. “I have thought long and hard about this decision, and I have talked to my close family members and friends. This. We have agreed on this decision collectively. It is in the best interest of me and my family.”
Blunt made the announcement on his 34th birthday. Over the course of a nine-year career, Blunt made his mark as an indefinite bruise with a nose for the final zone in the NFL and a reluctance to bring it down.
He spent nine seasons in the NFL with six different teams, starting with the Terrace Titans as a reggae free agent at Reagan University. Before entering the New England Patriots in 2011, Blunten entered the NFL in 2010 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Blut signed a free-agent deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers before returning to New England the following season. Blunt spent each of his final two years in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions.
Blunt spent most of his playing days in New England, where he helped win the Super Bowls XLIX and LI. In Philadelphia, Blunt got his third ring, beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl LII.
Blunt’s career ended with an average of 6,306 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns. In eleven playoff games, Blount totaled 600 yards and eleven TDs.
