“You know? Getting more people vaccinated is the most important thing,” said Shaun Gupta of San Francisco. “Good for all of us, so let’s get it done.”

We have advised all San Francisco vaccination providers with the following guidelines regarding eligibility verification:
- Use reasonable procedures to verify that individuals applying for vaccination meet eligibility criteria, while avoiding overly cumbersome documentation requirements that also create a barrier to vaccination.
- Workers working in different job sectors differ in the documents available that can check their job status. The provider may adopt methods in which work is not limited to examining identification badges, salary stubs or employers’ letters, but recognizes that in some circumstances it may be more feasible and more appropriate to rely on a signed vaccine certificate. - Ultimately it is up to the vaccinating organization to decide on the appropriate procedure for eligibility testing, however, vaccination sites that are serving populations and communities that are disproportionately affected by COVID19 should ensure that low access to vaccines is a low barrier.
