The Pentagon will expect to discover a task force dedicated to investigating reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) from service members led by top officials in the coming days.
The task force will be led by Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist, according to two Department of Defense (DOD) officials, CNN reported.
The agency first confirmed that it was working on a program that worked to identify UFOs in 2017.
Establishment of the task force comes several months after the DOD published videos of meetings between U.S. pilots and UFOs, noting that explanations for the flying objects or aircraft remain unclear.
“DOD has released the videos to clear up any misunderstandings by the public as to whether the circulating recordings were real or not, or whether there is more to the videos,” a DOD statement said in April. the aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘not identified.’ ”
That announcement was praised at the time by former Sen. Harry Reid

“I’m glad the Pentagon is finally releasing these recordings, but it only scratches the surface of research and materials available,” Reid tweeted in April. “The US needs to take this seriously, scientifically, on this and all possible implications of national security.
