Penguins and Frills Will Meet on 7/28 for Long Exposure

Plans for the NHL advance are coming fast and furious. After so many weeks and months of inaction and inactivity, we are now making up for it in record time. On Tuesday night, the penguins discovered a couple of key pieces of information.

First, after traveling to downtown Toronto on July 26, each team will have an exhibition game. The Ballpoint Pens have achieved a top spot and the league is taking a regional approach to match its natural rivals. That means the Flyers on Tuesday, July 28 are the only exhibition game that both teams will have.

Just look at Wednesday, six incredible games are happening, staggered between downtown Toronto and Edmonton. That could be the type of action in August if the league does it all.

The other great news is that the Pens learned the start times of the first three games in their best series of five against the Montreal Canadiens. Being a great type of matchup, it is not surprising that this occurs in primetime for each of the first three games.

The rest of the early hours for the play-in round and round robins can be found here. The NHL plans to start with five games on Saturday, August 1, starting at noon east and will last long after midnight. Which reminds a sports fan of the excitement of March Madness-style action, where games are active all day and life is fun and good.

That is all we can hope for right now. The Pens / Flyers exhibition, by the way, is in two weeks. It will move very quickly if the NHL can implement the plans they are implementing.
