Packers vs. Texans score: Devante Adams makes career high in receiving yards as Green Bay Cruise

Davant Adams proved that he is still one of the NFL’s select wide receivers, as his career soared with 196 acquired yards as he defeated the Green Bay Packers, 35-28, over the Houston Texans. Green Bay avenged its embarrassing loss last week thanks to Adams’ game, whose 13 receptions embarrassed to set a franchise record for catches in a game set by Adams and Hall of Famer Don Hutson. Aaron Rogers also dominated the win, throwing four touchdowns and 283 yards while recording a passing rating of 132.4.

It was Rogers’ 26th game with a four-plus passing touchdown, which boosted his franchise record. He threw touchdowns to three different receivers, as Jess Sternberger and Malik Taylor got the first touchdowns of their careers. Rogers now has 17 touchdown passes for just two interceptions in the season. The Packers have never lost a back-to-back game in two seasons of head coach Matt L’Fleur and have maintained it relentlessly, gaining the first 21 points of the game on the road to victory.

Adams had the fifth-ranked yard in the game in Packers history, shy of being the fifth-wide receiver to take 200 yards in a game – and the first after Jordi Nelson in 2014. The Packers, Aaron Jones and David Gum Bakhtari, on plays only plays (before the knees) offend y80 yards, averaging .4..4 yards per play. Jamal Williams, filling for Jones, finished with a total of 114 yards.

Deshaun Watson threw two touchdowns in y૨૨ yard and defeat and Will Fuller caught a touchdown pass for the fifth game in a row, joining Dandre Hopkins as the only player in franchise history to have five straight games with a touchdown catch. Fuller’s 21 touchdown catches are the highest in the player’s first 49 career games. Watson is the first player in franchise history to throw more than 250 passing yards in the team’s first seven games of the season.

Why the Packers won

The Houston Pass was the Green Bay route against defense that allowed the second-ranked bad passer to enter the competition and oppose the quarterbacks with a rating. That number is due to Rodgers burning Houston’s secondary, thanks to an impressive victory for 283 yards and four touchdowns. Matt LaFleur’s offense wasn’t difficult, setting Adams early and often because the receiver was arguably his best day as a pro. Adams against Houston Secondary did not match the initial kickoff.

Why lost text

No matter how Deshaun plays Watson, the Texans defense can’t stop his opponent on a consistent basis. Watson was good enough to save the game from a blow – but the Houston defense let the Packers go 7-12- on the third down and 4-4 in the red zone. The Packers had a 253-yard offense in the first half, touching down to take a 21-0 lead on three of the five assets. Houston’s offense was unable to get any points on the board, starting the game by running 15 plays for 51 yards. When the Texans were finally able to turn something into a crime, it was too late.

Price

“It was too much so we felt we had done our own thing.” Packers wide receiver Davant Adams on the team’s bounce-back win. Green Bay lost its first game to the Bookcanners in embarrassing fashion last year, but tied the Chicago Bears for first place in the NFC North.

Turn

The game was packers wire-to-wire, and Rogers made sure the game was early and often suspicious going to Adams. Adams had his opening possession against Texans Secondary, catching his first three goals – two of which were in third – including the final one for a 3-yard touchdown. The Packers took a 7-0 lead in the first possession of the game and never looked back.

Play the game

You can pick any of Adams’ 12 catches in the game, but Green takes his 45-yard touchdown catch to put Bay on 28-7. Facing third and 4 out of Houston 45, the Texans decided to play press coverage against Adams in the slot – and Adams went after Eric Murray for an easy score. Adams set a career path in receiving yards with a 196 win.
