Packers ask season ticket holders to opt out of the 2020 season

Green Bay Packers season ticket holders today received a questionnaire formally asking them to choose whether they want to “opt in” or “opt out” for the opportunity to purchase tickets this season. Season ticket holders who signed up to receive communications electronically received an email. Those who receive communications by standard mail will receive a postcard with instructions on how to complete the online questionnaire.

Although the organization remains optimistic, there is a possibility that Lambeau Field may not be hosting fans for the games this season. In case the team is able to host fans, the Packers are working to implement the NFL-required precautions, all of which are subject to change and can be updated game-by-game as conditions require, including the number of tickets available for each game.

The questionnaire also asks all season ticket holders, regardless of whether they “opt out” or “opt out,” if they want their full 2020 payment refunded or if they want to apply their 2020 payment to the season. 2021.

All season ticket holders will maintain their season ticket holder status and their existing seats, and their ticket package will remain in place for the upcoming season.

Before deciding whether to opt-in or not, season ticket holders were asked to consider that the Lambeau Field game day experience will look and feel very different this year, as the team expects the following protocols are in force this season:

  • Significantly reduced stadium capacity due to social distancing parameters.
  • Mobile tickets will be used as the main method of entering the stadium.
  • Improved cleaning measures on both game days and non-game days.
  • Hand sanitizer stations present in all rooms.
  • Facial covers will be required unless you are eating or drinking.
  • All merchandise and concession locations will be cashless.
  • Food and beverage sales from hallways in the general bowl will be discontinued and seat service will not be available at the Club level.
  • Queue tracking can be prohibited in Lambeau Field batches.

The deadline to complete the questionnaire is Friday, July 31.

After receiving the quiz results, the Packers will finalize the protocols and expectations for the season’s opening games. Subscriber holders who “opt” for the questionnaire will receive information on how to access a presale opportunity through which they can purchase tickets for a single game. Due to significantly reduced capacity, the details of the subscription holder’s account will not be transferred to the presale opportunity, including a guarantee for the same seats, the same number of seats or any seat for any game during the 2020 season. Seasonally eligible ticket holders will simply have access to the exclusive presale opportunity to purchase tickets to a game.

Season ticket holders will not be able to apply their 2020 payment for these single game tickets; your 2020 payment will be refunded or credited to your 2021 balance. Refunds for 2020 payments will be processed within 30 days after July 31.

Due to the pandemic, if a season ticket holder purchasing tickets for a game decides to sell their tickets on the secondary market, reselling will be limited to the total number of seats for each game. For example, ticket holders who buy four seats together will not be able to divide the seats into pairs and resell them; all four entrances would have to be resold as a unit.

Maximum capacity has not yet been determined and is subject to change as pandemic conditions evolve.

Season ticket holders who choose not to participate will not be contacted regarding the exclusive 2020 ticket presale opportunity, but their ticket package and existing seating locations will remain in place during the 2021 season.

The Packers plan to make the necessary adjustments to run the games in the safest manner possible for the best interest of fans, players, and team and league staff. All preparations are made with the latest advice from medical and public health officials and are subject to change.
