Pac-12 approves 2020 soccer schedule and plans for fall sports


Path to return to competition to follow Pac-12 Medical Advisory Committee guidelines that prioritize health and safety and are designed to provide maximum flexibility

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 CEO Group today approved the fall schedule for the 2020 Soccer Conference only, featuring a 10-game roster and a host of features designed to provide maximum flexibility. In addition, the CEO Group approved the competition start dates and pre-season practice policies for the exclusive Conference seasons for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s cross country. Practice and competition policies in all cases are subject to approval by public health authorities and medical advice.

Plans to return to competition for each of these sports were determined after extensive consultation with the Pac-12 Medical Advisory Committee. The health and safety of our student-athletes and those related to Pac-12 sports is our number one priority, and we are prepared to adjust plans if the health situation changes. Football

Following the decision of the Pac-12 CEO Group on July 10 to switch to a Conference-only football schedule, the Pac-12 today unveiled a 10-game Conference-only schedule (available below, as well as on Pac-12.com) structured to maximize flexibility, including the following features:

  • The season will start on September 26 (normally week 4), with the flexibility if necessary to start at a later date if the situation warrants it;
  • Each team will play five games at home and five on the road;
  • Games that cannot be played on their scheduled date can be recovered in their weeks of rest or in Week 12 (December 12), with the Pac-12 Football Championship Game, presented by 76®, now scheduled for the 18th or Decembre 19th; and

The Pac-12 CEO Group also approved conference-only scheduling plans for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s cross country, with the competition beginning no earlier than the weekend of September 26.
