Ovince Saint Preux tests positive for COVID-19, fights with Alonzo Menifield scratches from UFC on ESPN 15

UFC on ESPN 15 has suffered another fight cancellation, just hours before the card is expected to launch later tonight (Sat. August 22, 2020) live on ESPN / ESPN + from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as Ovince Saint Preux has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, Saint Preux’s co-main event with Alonzo Menifield has been removed from the ESPN main map. The light heavyweight champion is expected to be re-placed for the UFC’s upcoming September 5th card.

Manager of Saint Preux, Oren Hodak, announced the news just an hour ago via Twitter, states that “OSP” has been removed from the precautionary measure card after producing both positive and negative test results earlier this week.

“For security measures, the @ 003_OSP fight will be removed from the card tonight and re-placed before 9/5. He fought Covid earlier and presented both + and – tests this week. He has no symptoms at the moment and his shepherds are all clear, ‘Hodak wrote.

Saint Preux, 37, was back to light heavyweight after May after losing his heavyweight debut against Ben Rothwell. The former UFC light heavyweight title challenger was looking to win just his third fight at 205 pounds since the start of 2018.

UFC on ESPN 15 will now continue with only nine total fights.
