Several brands of Valencia oranges, lemons, limes, organic limes, and red potatoes have been recalled due to possible Listeria contamination. North Carolina is one of five states that received the recalled products.
Brands include Wegmans, Natures Promise, Fresh from the Start, Freshouse and bulk bulk items.
The recalled products were shipped to distribution centers for retailers in multiple states, including North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia, as well as wholesalers in Maryland and North Carolina.
At present, no diseases associated with this reminder have been reported.

Freshouse II, LLC of Salisbury, NC recalls the following specific batches, brands and weights of Valencia Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Organic Limes, and Red B Potatoes, as they may have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism this can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, vulnerable as well as older people, and others with weakened immune systems.Although healthy individuals may only have symptoms in the short term such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The recall was voluntarily initiated after routine internal testing by the company identified the Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment in one of our packaging facilities. We have stopped the production and distribution of the product that was packaged at the facility in question and are taking corrective action and evaluating our cleaning and sanitation regimen continuously.
No diseases have so far been associated with this memory.
Consumers can identify recognized retail products by searching for the brand, UPC number and, if available, the track number that is printed on the tag or clip attached to the opening end of the bag. The recalled products were shipped directly to retailers in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia and to wholesalers in Maryland and North Carolina (see table below).
Consumers who have an article mentioned above in their possession should not consume it and should destroy the product in a way that it cannot be consumed by others or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
