The Orange County Health Care Agency reported another 702 new cases of coronavirus as of Saturday, July 18.
The cumulative total for Orange County cases is 29,011 since local testing began in March.
There were 25 new deaths reported through Saturday, bringing the total number of Orange County residents who have died to 494.
The data on deaths in the county is either compiled from death certificates or collected throughout the investigation of the case and can take weeks to process, authorities say.
Of the 494 deaths, 232 were residents of skilled nursing facilities, 16 were in assisted living facilities, and two were on the homeless list.
The state coronavirus board reports that there have been 112 deaths in Orange County in the past 14 days.
Across the county, 341,097 confirmed tests for the coronavirus have been reported since testing began, with data through July 16. There were 7,086 daily tests reported in the Friday update.
The state showed a test positivity rate of 13.5% for the county, with 98,056 tests conducted in the past two weeks.
The county estimates that the number of recoveries from the virus is 13,301. The count of people who have recovered is based on the previous 28-day cumulative case count.
According to the California Department of Health, there have been 11,469 new cases of COVID-19 in Orange County in the past 14 days.
The state agency also reports 692 current inpatients (suspected and positive) as of Thursday at 33 hospitals across the county.
The state’s coronavirus dashboard shows Orange County with at least 36% of its ICU beds available on Friday.
The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:
85 and older: 32% (152) 75-84: 26% (126) 65-74: 17% (89) 55-64: 13% (63) 45-54: 8% (43) 35-44: 3 % (13) 25-34: 1% (7) 18-24: <1% (1) 17 and younger: 0% Data released daily is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize.
