The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 565 new cases of coronavirus since Sunday, August 9, bringing the province’s cumulative total to 39,641 cases.
The agency notes that the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange has experienced issues with the application receiving laboratory test reports and is then sending them to CalREDIE. The state health department is trying to resolve the issue, which may have resulted in a lower number of daily COVID-19 positive cases received and recently reported. On Monday, the agency reported more than 17,000 tests that were lagging behind.
It is estimated that more than half of the reported cases, like 29,931 as of Sunday, are people who have recovered. The recovery count is based on the previous 28-day cumulative case count.
Six new deaths were reported in Orange County on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 726.
Of the 726 dead, 284 were experienced residents of nursing homes, 38 were sitting in assisted living facilities and one was reported as homeless.
According to the California Department of Health, there have been at least 4,710 new COVID-19 cases in Orange County in the last 14 days.
The province reports 474,144 tests for the virus have been given since local tracking began in March. There were at least 14,665 tests given as of Sunday.
The province reported Sunday that 487 people with coronavirus were hospitalized, including 163 people in intensive care.
The state’s coronavirus tracking dashboard shows that Orange County had at least 43% of its ICU beds on Sunday.
The distribution of the province of deaths by age is as follows:
