The Orange County Health Care Agency reported another 814 coronavirus cases as of Sunday, July 12, bringing the Orange County total to 24,715 since local testing began in March. There were two new deaths reported, totaling 423.
Of the 423 deaths, 212 were in skilled nursing facilities, 15 in assisted living facilities, and two were listed as homeless.
There were 671 hospitalized patients registered with 231 in the ICU. The state’s coronavirus control panel shows that Orange County has at least 39% of its ICU beds still available.
The county estimates the number of recoveries from the virus to be 10,197. The count of people who have recovered is based on the previous 28-day cumulative case count.
Across the county, 307,400 tests have been reported since the tests began, with data through July 11. The state coronavirus board gave a test positivity rate of 12.1% for the county with 88,013 tests in the last 14 days.
The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:
- 85 and older: 31% (134)
- 75-84: 26% (111)
- 65-74: 18% (75)
- 55-64: 13% (53)
- 45-54: 8% (34)
- 35-44: 2% (10)
- 25-34: 1% (5)
- 24 and under: 0%
The data released daily is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
