Gigabyte has announced the Eros 15p, a portable laptop ready for commercial gaming. It is now available on Gigabyte’s online store, starting. Is 1,599.99.
The company says it worked with sports teams, including G2 Esports, to design the new laptop. It weighs 4.4 pounds (2 kg) – which is portable as far as gaming laptops go – and is 0.9 inches thick. Gigabyte says the chassis underwent a “series of pressure tests” for durability.
The Gigabyte promises eight hours of battery life, which is definitely an optimistic prediction for the gaming rig (and each has a one-key RGB keyboard, which can lead to a bit of extra power).
According to Specs, the 15P comes with a 144 Hz display. It is powered by Intel’s Core i7-10750H and up to 32GB of RAM. You can choose a GeForce RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 with Max-Q design. For the ports, in addition to the charging port you get three USB-A, one USB-C, one HDMI, one SD card reader, a headphone jack and Ethernet.
The big question with thin gaming laptops is always cooling: Gigabyte says the device will include its Windforce Infinite Cooling system, which includes two 12-volt fans, five heat pipes and multiple vents to keep its frame rate. Hopefully, we’ll test that claim for ourselves later this month.
