OnePlus TV Line Adds Affordable U Series and Y Series

OnePlus has had an excellent success with its smartphones and last year it expanded to the television market with the launch of the OnePlus TV Q series. Today, OnePlus has expanded that line with the debut of its new U-Series and Y-Series televisions, all running on Google’s Android TV.

Where the original OnePlus TV was as sophisticated as it is with special features like a retractable soundbar, the U Series and Y Series are more moderate. Both new series focus on delivering a high-quality experience without the cost generally associated with those features.

OnePlus TV U-Series consists of only one model: OnePlus TV 55U1. This 55-inch TV has a 4K panel attached to a metal frame with a carbon fiber effect as well. It is a very elegant design and, like all models announced today, the bezels on the front are very slim. There is also a 30W speaker.

Meanwhile, OnePlus TV’s Y series focuses on even lower price points and, most importantly, on different sizes. The 43Y1 and 32Y1 respectively offer 1080p and 720p displays while maintaining the same overall image quality and performance. You’ll also find dual 10W speakers for audio.

In all three models here, we are dealing with LED panels. They all cover 93% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support. The only thing that changes between sizes is the resolution.

Along with these new TV models, OnePlus will also introduce a couple of new features. There’s a new kid mode that, when enabled, offers parental controls over content types and also a clock timer. There’s also “Data Saver Plus”, a special mode that allows users to receive alerts every time their TV uses a certain amount of data. On limited internet plans, it might come in handy!

All of that is built on Android TV, with embedded Prime Video and Netflix compatibility. 55U1 runs on a MediaTek MT5887, 3GB of RAM, and will have 16GB of storage. OnePlus TV Y-Series, on the other hand, comes down to 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

What about prices? 55U1 will cost Rs 49,999 (~ $ 670) where the Y Series starts at Rs 12,999 (~ $ 175) for the 32 inch model and Rs 22,999 (~ $ 300) for the 43 inch model. Everything will be available on July 5 from Amazon. These televisions are still exclusive to India. Pre-orders are now open.
