As truly wireless headsets take over the market in 2020, OnePlus has basically ignored the form factor and continued to launch new generations of neck-style designs. Now a trustworthy filter claims OnePlus has truly wireless headphones just around the corner and they look … familiar.
Max J claims on Twitter (and confirmed via private messages) that OnePlus is gearing up to launch new truly wireless headphones in July, within two months. It seems entirely possible that this could line up with the launch of the mid-range OnePlus Z, but there is not enough evidence yet to say for sure.
These new headphones, apparently, would closely resemble Apple’s AirPods. The buds themselves seem a little more rounded, but the “stems” and the lack of silicone tips are an incredibly close design to what Apple has been pumping. Max also points out that this is the actual design, not just an illustration. However, the case may look a bit more like Google’s Pixel Buds case, as mocked in a previous tweet.
Update 06/29: We’ve learned a few details about OnePlus’ upcoming truly wireless headphones, including what will be called “Pods.” Now, however, another sketch of the product has hit the web courtesy of, again, Max J. This last image shows a little more detail, and also reveals that the exterior design will closely resemble OnePlus Bullets Wireless buttons. . However, something more exciting is that they will be available in black instead of just white.

Notably, Oppo recently released a truly wireless pair of headphones that also fit this description. OnePlus designs and components are often similar to Oppo’s, especially for the OnePlus 8 series and Oppo Find X2 series, as both companies share the same manufacturing lines and the same owner. Take it for what it’s worth.
However, it is very important to take this with a grain of salt. Max says in a follow-up tweet that this information comes from a newer source that, while looking trustworthy, doesn’t yet have the same track record as his other OnePlus sources of information. He wouldn’t write this information down completely, given Max’s own record, but it’s not set in stone yet.
