OnePlus appears to have chosen a date for the launch of its mid-range smartphone: July 21. The invitations for the event were published early in Amazon India (a major launch country for the device), and leaker Ishan Agarwal saw it for the first time (the actual tweet has been removed, but XDA has a backup). Amazon also downloaded the page, but a Google cache copy still exists.
OnePlus has been slowly leaking information on your next smartphone, which will see a return at a cheaper price. The first rumors called the phone “OnePlus 8 Lite” or “OnePlus Z”, but the company confirmed that the phone will go with the strange nickname “OnePlus Nord”, a word that means “north” in various languages. We may not know all the specs, but OnePlus has already confirmed that the price will be “less than $ 500”.
OnePlus says the phone will come with a Snapdragon 765G and will have a “flagship camera.” Sadly, North America doesn’t appear to be in the first wave of countries for this launch, with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau saying “we’re going to start relatively small with this new product line by first introducing it to Europe and India. But don’t make”. Don’t worry, we are also looking to bring more affordable smartphones to North America in the near future. ”
Other than that, things about the Nord are murky. Before OnePlus began to reveal official information, there were constant rumors of a mid-range OnePlus device with a MediaTek 1000 SoC and a 90Hz display, which we now know were not accurate. In a documentary on Nord’s development, OnePlus says the phone was activated in just six months, which would mean development started after the launch of these renders starting in December 2019. So maybe all the previous rumors were about a canceled product. Android Central says the phone will have two selfie cameras on an oval-shaped punch, just like a Galaxy S10 +, which is another hit against renders.
We can not fail to mention that the mockery of OnePlus on the social networks of this phone even extend to exaggeration box shipped, which the company claims is “sleek new design” (box-shaped) and “incredibly tough.” Apparently two people can stand on the box without crushing it. Our local recycling center will be delighted.
