OnePlus is set to launch its first pair of true wireless headphones soon, and it appears to be following Apple’s lead when it comes to design.
OnePlus headphones, purportedly called Pods, aren’t quite as compelling as the best fake AirPods, but the resemblance is certainly there. Pod representations reveal stems attached to ovular shoots in black and white varieties. According to a promotional trailer for Twitter user Max J (via 9to5Google), the new impersonators will arrive in July.

Max J shared the alleged marketing material in May, but we haven’t heard much since then. OnePlus has a reputation for making recommended headsets to pair with their smartphones like the OnePlus 8 Pro, so we’ve been looking forward to what their first pair of true wireless devices would offer.

Today, Max J posted another image of Pods in a black variant that looks less like AirPods than the May leak and more like OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2. We also have a good idea of what the charging case might look like with a curve and compact form.
9to5Google said that Max J’s information about Pods might not be as accurate as his previous leaks, so Pods might not like this. Still, there is enough evidence to believe that OnePlus is working to bring wireless headphones to market to compete with AirPods.
If OnePlus can offer AirPods-level sound quality at a lower price, then Apple’s audio division might have reason to worry. At least until the launch of AirPods Studio or AirPods 3. We still don’t know enough about the specifications of OnePlus Pods or Apple’s planned headphone products.
OnePlus may be planning to launch Pods, or whatever the wireless headphones are called, tomorrow alongside the mid-range OnePlus Nord smartphone. If that’s the case, information from Max J’s previous release date might reflect actual availability, which, like the OnePlus Nord, would be July.
We’ll know in less than 24 hours if these Pod leaks are real and if the new buds are poised to become the ultimate OnePlus accessory.
