- A press release from Samsung confirms which devices One UI 2.5 will receive, the latest release of Sammy’s Android skin.
- On the list are the two 2018 flagships of the brand: the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9.
- This is a welcome surprise from the company and suggests that more updates are not out of the question.
Samsung launched One UI 2.5 in tandem with its latest Samsung Galaxy Note 20 line. Today it was revealed that their other flagships of 2020 – the Galaxy S20 series – will see the update soon. However, it also unexpectedly confirmed that its flagships of 2018 will get it soon at some point as well.
In an online press release covering the new features within One UI 2.5, you can see a list of all the devices that are meant to receive the update. Just scroll to the bottom and you will see them all in fine print, and the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 are on it.
One UI 2.5 update: The full list
Here are the phones that Samsung says will receive the latest One UI update:
- Entire Galaxy S20 series
- Entire Galaxy Note 20 series
- All Galaxy S10 devices, including S10e and S10 Lite
- Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus
- All Galaxy Note 10 devices, including Note 10 Lite and 5G models
- Samsung Galaxy Note 9
- Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Flip 5G
- All models of Samsung Galaxy Fold
Unfortunately, Samsung does not promise to deliver the One UI 2.5 update to other devices. That means there are no promises for everything in the Galaxy A or Galaxy M series of phones. However, it’s likely that One UI 2.5 will eventually make it to the high-end offerings in those lines – it’s just that Samsung is not keeping its front end.

Of course, the big question now is whether Samsung will release an update to Android 11 to its older models. We did not expect the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy Note 9 to get Android 11 due to Samsung’s two-year upgrade limit. However, with its new three-year policy, there is a slight possibility that it could affect its 2018 flagships retroactively. The possibility is there, however small it may be.
First of all, do not give up hope, but do not give up hope either!
