Omaha Medical Research Firm Looking for COVID-19 Vaccine Study Subjects


OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – Meridian Clinical Research announced Thursday that it is seeking paid volunteers for a COVID-19 vaccine research study in Omaha, Norfolk and Grand Island.

Study participants will be subject to examinations, in addition to the administration of an “investigational” vaccine or placebo, at no cost to the subject, according to the press release.

The company’s statement says it is looking for people who meet one of the following criteria:

  • People who may be in close and regular contact with infected people; This may include, but is not limited to, essential workers, health workers, first responders, manufacturing / factory workers, teachers, transit workers, etc.
  • People with underlying health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, asthma, etc.
  • Healthy individuals 19 years of age and older with no known history of COVID-19 infection
  • People 65 years or older.

Similar studies are also underway in Savannah, Ga .; Baton Rouge, La.; Rockville, Maryland; Binghamton and Endwell, New York; and Dakota Dunes, SD

According to its press release, the Omaha medical research company “conducts FDA-supervised clinical trials.” Meridian has previously supported studies for the Ebola vaccine and has conducted research for the Zika and anthrax vaccines, the statement said.
