Olympic swimmer Clet Keller charged with additional charges of Capitol riots



Olympic swimmer Clet Keller has been named U.S. Was charged with an additional charge for his alleged role in the riots at the Capitol.

The two-time gold medalist was charged with three counts of felony criminal mischief in early January by federal officials: obstruction of law enforcement, violent entry and disorderly conduct, and entry into a restricted building.

On Wednesday, a grand judge returned a new charge accusing him of seven counts, including civil disorder, obstruction of official proceedings, entry into a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a restricted building and disorderly conduct in a capital building.

Keller did not return Friday for the numbers listed for Keller and his attorney could not be reached immediately for comment.

a Video Keller was shown inside the Capitol with a group of supporters of President Donald Trump in January, posted on Twitter by a Townhall media reporter. In the video, the mob pushed in front of police officers who were trying to clear Rotunda.

Keller was seen wearing his “USA” jacket in the footage. No video has surfaced of Keller taking part in any of Capital’s violent acts.

U.S. Sarah Herschel, CEO of the Olympic and Paralympic Committee, said in a January statement that she “condemned the rioting at the U.S. Capitol.” USA Swimming issued a statement expressing similar statements.

Keller, an ally of Michael Phelps, does not publicly address his alleged involvement in Capital.

The athlete was last registered as a member of USA Swimming in 2008. After leaving the game, he worked as an independent contractor for the Colorado Springs real estate agency Hoff & Leigh but resigned last month.

More than 200 people have been blamed for the riots, which erupted after pro-Trump supporters broke the Capitol in protest of the Electoral College College vote confirming Biden’s victory.
