Ohio’s Best Youth; Buckeye’s Efforts with Jordan Hancock

Good afternoon Bucknuts subscribers! A lot is happening with Ohio State soccer recruiting, so let’s get started! Of course, I will have much more throughout the night and tomorrow.

1) Earlier this week I posted an update with the latest in a 2023 Ohio prospect, lineman Luke Montgomery from Findlay. Montgomery, 6-foot-5-foot, 260-pound, is a soccer and basketball star in Findlay, who was a college football starter as a freshman and came off the bench for the hoops team. Montgomery played defensive end and made 40 tackles including five sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Montgomery planned to visit the state of Ohio during his spring practice sessions this year, but was unable to because the coronavirus closed things down. Montgomery is still very interested in the state of Ohio.

Brenan Vernon Mentor is another of Ohio’s main inhabitants of 2023 who is also definitely interested and in touch with the Buckeyes.

“Yes, yes,” Vernon said when asked if he had been in contact with the Buckeyes this summer. “Coach (Larry) Hinton, (Coach Larry) Johnson and (Coach Ryan) Day here and there. It is going well.”

Vernon planned to go to some Ohio state spring practice as well as the Buckeyes spring game before it all closed down.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Vernon has an early list of scholarships from at least 10 schools, including Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Nebraska, Kentucky, Indiana, Cincinnati, Duke, and Kent State.
