Ohio State’s Big Ten Challenge in 2020? It’s not Michigan, says the urban mayor

When it comes to Big Ten football in 2020, everything starts and ends in Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are a clear-cut favorite to repeat as league champions again, and may even qualify for the college football .l playoffs. They have the talent and the schedule to help them get there.

But, where does the speed bump come from? Urban Meyer, the former bookies head coach known for his intense college football analysis on Fox, offered his opinion on Monday.

“With recruitment over the last few years, just with the roster, I have to go with Penn State,” Meyer said during a presentation on the Big Ten Network.

During the interview, the mayor picked up Knit’s Lions over arch-rival Michigan and said Ohio State would shoot without playing in a dinner night situation at State College, set for Oct. 31.

“It’s ridiculous, to go and play there,” Meyer said. “It will now be a disciplined atmosphere at State College.

“So, just by pure genius, I’m the challenger of the East – and the challenger of the Big Ten – Penn State.”

However, Meyer, whose bookies team led 7-1 to Michigan during his tenure at Columbus, gave the Wolverines some credit. He said the top-heavy East will probably come down to one of those three teams, and during the short-term nine-game schedule in 2020 he would suggest being a Big Ten strength.

But Michigan has faced a lot of uncertainty, especially with the new starting quarterback on the offensive side of the ball and the inexperienced offensive line. Will the Wolverines be able to keep up with some other high-powered teams like Minnesota, Penn State and Ohio State in the offense league?

History suggests otherwise, at least with the bookies, who dominated the series in 2000 by winning eight straight eight games and 17 of the last 19 matches.

“The competition is always going to be, and you’ll take it better (seriously),” Meyer said. “Every one of Columbus, Ohio – and most importantly, every one of those Woody Hayes (athletic) facilities – has been clearly identified as an enemy. They are the Wolverines.”
