Ohio reports 637 new cases of coronavirus, 3 dead: Sunday update

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Sunday that the number of confirmed and probable infections of the new coronavirus has increased to 114,802, up 637 since Saturday.

The number of Ohioans who have died with the coronavirus has increased by 3, to 3,988.

The department reported 3,975 deaths and 114,165 infections on Saturday.

Figures often dropped over the weekend due to reporting delays.

The figures continue the recent trend of the state to slow the growth of new cases after setting one-day records three different times in a single week in late July. The state’s moving average of 21 days of new cases sits at 1,037 cases, as of Sunday.

More than 23 million people worldwide have been infected with COVID-19, and more than 800,000 have died, according to researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

In the US, there are nearly 5.7 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 176,000 deaths from COVID-19.
