Ohio reports 1,119 new cases of coronavirus, 20 new deaths: Saturday update


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Saturday afternoon that the state has 1,119 new cases of coronavirus.

This brings the total number of cases to 114,165, which includes confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases.

A total of 3,975 people died of coronavirus, 20 as of Friday.

Often numbers go on the weekend because of reports.

Confirmed cases are defined by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as people who have tested positive. Probable cases are diagnosed by a doctor if someone has been in close contact with an infected person, among other criteria.

More than 23 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with coronavirus and more than 800,000 people have died from the deadly virus.

More than 5.5 million people in the US have been diagnosed with coronavirus and more than 175,000 people have died from the infection.
