Officials report 301 new COVID-19 cases, 2 new deaths related to the virus

San Antonio Assistant City Manager and Interim Metro Health Director Dr. Colin Bridger and Baxter County Judge Nelson Wolfe updated the community about the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefing Thursday night.

Bridger reported a total of 69,014 cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,287 deaths in Bexar County as of Thursday, adding 301 new cases. Two new deaths have been reported today.

The 7-day moving average of the case is 283.

City officials also reported that 353 patients are hospitalized, 129 are in the intensive care unit and 62 are on ventilators. There are 10% staff beds available and 64% ventilators available.

Bridgeer said 55 were hospitalized in the past 24 hours. He said San Antonio hospitals currently have 19 patients with CO1 Kovid-El in Paso.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who tested negative for COVID-19, but came in contact with an employee who, positively, surprised San Antonio and lit the River Walk as early as possible for the holidays. (See lighting in the briefing video.)
