Odell Beckham Jr. resists calls to join Cam Newton at Patriots

Wherever Odell Beckham Jr. goes, trade speculation seems to follow.

This time, people are wondering if the Cleveland Browns wide receiver will request an exchange with the New England Patriots to join their good friend Cam Newton, who signed with the Pats on Sunday. A comedian named Bob Menery tweeted in Beckham on Monday about that, but Beckham quickly shot him down.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood predicted that Beckham would be traded to the Pats before the season ended, which Beckham crushed by proclaiming his dedication to Cleveland.

Beckham’s words are likely to comfort Browns fans, but it wasn’t crazy to wonder if he wanted to join Newton in New England. OBJ and Cam are not only good friends, they are also training partners. Just two days ago, Beckham posted a video of the two exercising (and sprinkling sweat on the camera).

And he posted one two weeks before that.

There was a small chance that both of them could have been on the same team in the upcoming season. Adam Schefter said on his podcast Monday that the Browns were the only other team that even spoke to Newton about a contract this offseason, but that conversation was nothing.

Despite commercial speculation that never seems to end, Beckham said he is committed to ending his business with the Browns. Considering the Browns finished 6-10 last season after a promising start, and Beckham also had a pretty bad year, there is OBJ for more than enough for OBJ to start finishing.
