In a private meeting with black corporate donors in October 2019, former President Barack Obama threw his support behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. New book, “Lucky: How J Biden Won the Bareilly Presidency.”
Excerpts from the book, provided only to Hill, detail how Obama made the case for Warren, while “existing in the minds of his corporate and financial friends.”
Referring to then-President Donald Trump, Obama said, “So, if she raises your taxes a little bit? Compare that with us now,” Obama reportedly referred to then-President Donald Trump.
Obama said he would support Warren if he gets nominated, and the report “stressed that he wants Wall Street and corporate types to do the same.”
“Everyone in this room needs to pull their own weight.” “Republicans, he goes on to say, are winning cycle after cycle, up and down the ballot, because their donors care more than the Democrats’ donors.”
One donor in the room said that night was a “ninety percent Warren sermon.”

At the time, the Democratic presidential candidates fielded a crowded field v. Rann, Biden, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California and South Bend Mayor Pete Battingig were shrinking.
Asked why Batigig did not win the nomination, Obama told his youth, and the fact that he was “short” and “gay.”
On Harris, Obama simply admitted that she recognized him, but “would not comment further.” When an executive in the audience reminded Obama that he had forgotten his two-term vice president, the former commander-in-chief was “upset,” according to the book.
“His support for Biden was the best,” the man said. At the time, it didn’t matter what he said about Biden. Their silence speaks for itself. ”
