In the first two games of the 2020 Bay Bridge Series, the Oakland As recorded an exciting last-minute comeback against the San Francisco Giants. In the finale of this first installation at Oracle Park, the green and gold took care of the company much earlier, leaving no doubt as to the 9th.
The A’s scored nine runs in the 5th inning, routing last-place Giants 15-3 to complete a three-game sweep.

The A’s brought 13 batters to the plate during that massive rally, and Chad Pinder, Stephen Piscotty, and Marcus Semien chipped among homers into homers. For the game overall, Piscotty led the way with 5 RBIs, while Semien, Pinder, and Mark Canha each had two handballs, and Matt Olson finished three times and scored three runs. Everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit, and scored and / or scored in a run.
The pitching also went well. Mike Fiers recorded a quality start for Oakland, working six innings with just two allowed passes. Top prospect James Kaprielian followed, making his MLB debut, letting a homer make his first foray, but putting him down to fire to fire six of his next seven fighters while raising his fastball to 97 mph. Daniel Mengden grabbed a scoreless 9th.
And with that, the sweep is complete. The A’s have the best record in MLB at 16-6, while the Giants sank deeper into the NL West basement. Next stop: Arizona on Monday, to pick up the Diamondbacks.
