The New York City Police Benevolent Association personally endorsed President Trump Friday night for the next election, as the commander leaps in his head to his “law and order” platform.
“I can not remember when we signed up for the President of the United States so far – that’s how important this is,” said Pat Lynch, the incumbent PBA president at an event with Trump in his Bedminster- club Friday night.
“We need your strong voice across the country,” Lynch added.
After the union remained neutral in the 2016 election, Lynch has since blamed the Democratic-controlled city and state for passing laws that increase transparency over disciplinary records of politicians and banned chokeholds such as those that allow the death of Eric Garner.
In a speech that also featured an appearance by Rudy Giuliani, Trump attacked the Democrats for waging “a left-wing war against police” and called on Mayor Bill de Blasio specifically for launching a so-called “crusade against the Police.”
“We need to bring law and order back to our cities, back to our country,” Trump said.
The president once asked politicians informally about attendance over the best disrespectful nickname for Democratic nominee Joe Bide: “Sleepy Joe” or “Slow Joe.”
The cops cheer louder for Sleepy Joe.
“That’s what I thought!” Trump responded.
Trump was earlier in New York City to visit his critically ill brother, Robert, at the New York Presbyterian Hospital before the event.
Trump claimed he had a long run to actually win the state of New York, which in 36 years did not vote for a Republican president – since Ronald Reagan’s reelection in 1984.
“We’ll give New York a real shot,” he said on Friday, a promise he first made Thursday in an exclusive Oval Office interview with The Post.
“I think we have a real chance to win New York.”
