The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 series is almost certainly on the horizon, and a new leak may have revealed Asus’s opinion of the highest member of the family.
Discovered by VideoCardz, the image is from an Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. While we’ve already seen leaks on the GeForce RTX 3080, this graphics card suggests there will be a more powerful version of that GPU to top Nvidia’s next-generation graphics.
A GeForce RTX 3080 Ti could, in fact, be the better graphics card instead of the rumored RTX 3090. Or it could be a GPU located between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090.
Regardless of where the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is in the Ampere line of graphics cards, which we hope will also introduce a new RTX Titan card, GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3060, it looks like it will be a powerful pixel pusher. Its triple fan set and intensive use of heat sink fins would suggest that a powerful GPU sits underneath the chassis that needs intense cooling to maintain peak performance without melting its silicon.
The two-tone metal design and sharp angles, as well as the ROG eye mark, are in keeping with the aesthetics of the Asus ROG range. Therefore, we would be pretty sure to say that this leak is quite legitimate. And it appears that this graphics card has been built on the design of the recently leaked GeForce RTX 3080.
We don’t know much about the expected specifications of next-generation GeForce graphics cards. But they’ll all use Nvidia’s Ampere GPU architecture, which not only promises an increase in overall graphics performance, but will also increase ray tracing; There’s even an external possibility that a coprocessor can be used to better handle ray-tracing rendering, although that seems a bit of a stretch.
Based on the August 2018 reveal of current-generation Turing GeForce graphics cards, we predict that Nvidia could do the same for GeForces Ampere. There’s a good chance the graphics giant will showcase upcoming GeForce cards by the end of August or September, helping it showcase next-gen graphics a few months before the release of PS5 and Xbox Series X.
