Working in the beauty industry has left me a little skeptical. Ninety-five percent of skin care products simply don’t live up to their lofty claims and life-changing promises. But there was one home treatment he hadn’t tried: the FDA-approved NuFACE Trinity microcurrent device. To make sure I was getting the most out of my device, I set up a one-on-one virtual Zoom session with NuFACE co-founder and CEO Tera Peterson to get a tutorial from the professional herself. In the past, Peterson and her team of expert NuFACE estheticians have made “home visits” to celebrities and VIP homes (from Kate Hudson to Molly Sims). But given the current circumstances, those face-to-face meetings have been moved to virtual sessions that are now available for free to anyone (even if you’re not an A-lister). So of course I took the opportunity.
The device is easy to use, whether or not you have a tutorial, thanks to full instructions and available online videos, and it has multiple interchangeable accessories to target different things (like red light therapy and a tipped accessory) to smooth smile lines and wrinkles in the eyes). But I recommend taking advantage of a 20-minute individual lesson if you can. Peterson showed me how to use the product like a pro: NuFACE Gel Primer is a must (ensures microcurrents reach muscles) and both metal nodes must be lightly pressed into the skin to activate the microcurrent.
Basically you can’t mess it up. The device is super light and comfortable to hold, small beeps tell you when to go to the next step every five seconds, and the gel primer ensures that everything works out. Peterson told me that as long as I moved the device upward, it would achieve optimal elevation. And lift, it did. I started on my neck in the highest position as per Peterson’s recommendation, I made a few passes from the center to the back of my neck, passed to my cheek (my favorite place, because I love a good chiseled cheekbone) and then up to My forehead . The results lasted for about two or three days as Peterson said they would, and then I went back with my NuFACE to re-raise everything. Because the microcurrent trains our muscles, the results only improve over time. The entire treatment only lasts about five minutes, so I have no problem doing it three days a week to help my face defy gravity. Also, the gliding motion is very relaxing. The only caveat: Be sure to put on enough primer gel before using the device, or it may shock you slightly (and it doesn’t feel nice).
It is also important to note that NuFACE Trinity allows you to use multiple attachments, while the nearly identical looking NuFACE Mini does not. Peterson recommended NuFACE Trinity for the crowd over 30, while those in their twenties can get away with using the Mini. I would simply suggest going for the more expensive Trinity, because you will have the device forever and it can grow with you. When you consider that a microcurrent facial can cost more than $ 150, NuFACE pays for itself in a week after constant use.
