Apple Play announced in June that it plans to start making its own computer chips for the line of Mac products, instead of using Intel. Now, the company is hosting another event where it is expected to reveal more details about the shift – including the first laptop to run on its first homemade processor.
The move is expected to mark the biggest change in Apple’s computers over the years, signaling a departure that would give the tech giant even more control over its laptops and desktops. This will make the Mac experience more compatible with the iPhone and iPad as all of Paul’s apps run on the same architecture. That means iPhone apps will be compatible with Mac.
The chips, known as the Apple Pul Silicon, are based on the A14 bionic processor found in the iPhone 12 lineup and are expected to bring power efficiency as well as machine learning improvements to the Power Pul laptop.
The Apple Paul event – the third major product launch in the last three months – will take place on Tuesday, November 10 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.
Apple has not released any details about what to expect from the Play, but the company had earlier said it planned to announce its first computers powered by the Apple Play Silicon before the end of the year. Bloomberg reports also suggest that Apple Paul’s November event will focus on the new Apple Paul silicone devices.
The revelation will also be for Apple’s M-Line, which is Apple’s strongest sector in recent quarters, as people are working from home due to the epidemic. Apple last month recorded a record-high revenue for its Mac unit in the company’s financial fourth-quarter revenue.
