No. 2 Notre Dame is settling into the rhythm after some initial hiccups on Saturday, currently tied 10-10 with Boston College at the end of the first quarter.
Fighting Irish ball moved well to open the game, methodically setting the first-goal on the line of the-yard, just to settle for the field goal, working down the field. Then, after giving a touchdown, Notre Dame sank on the first play of its second possession. Suddenly, the invincible Irish have already shown themselves on the path to a team below seven – against Clemson and North Carolina – the ability to hang out with the best teams in the ACC.
The final minutes of the quarter were spent watching Notre Dame re-enter its dominance over crime. Ian Book has 99 yards so far on a 9-of-11 passing, with Ben Squaronek’s touchdown pass serving as a game-building score. Boston College College has so far done well to keep Notre Dame’s ground attack under 4 yards with a pair of 12-yard runs in addition to a big explosive play.
