Notre Dame RB Kyren Williams makes his presence felt

Running back is without a doubt the biggest question mark over the Notre Dame offensive, and over the next month, Irish crime needs at least two of its backs to step into the spotlight.

One player competing for that role is sophomore Kyren Williams, a gifted dual threat running back that hopes to knock out a number of older players to tackle this season. Head coach of Notre Dame Brian Kelly spoke about Williams at his last zoom press conference.

Williams has already featured impressive players in Notre Dame’s released practice clips. You can see the reformed body that Kelly is talking about, you can see the escape that Kelly is talking about and you can see the ability of the home track that Williams showed in high school in that clip. Here it is:

Williams was an excellent runner and passer who came out of high school. In May, Irish Breakdown wrote about Williams potentially an up-and-coming player for the Irish in 2020 thanks to his combination of skills. You can read that analysis OVER HERE.

When he left St. Louis came on, Williams ran nearly 3,000 yards and defeated more than 2,000 yards he received during his stellar prep career. He stood out last spring, but the depth map let Notre Dame save him for a season in 2019. Now Williams is using that year of experience to go his way up in the depth map.
