The Notre Dame quarterback chamber will have many of the same faces in 2020, but the one big change is position coaching Tommy Rees is now also the offensive coordinator of the team. Rees runs into a great situation by returning Ian Book, who is entering his third season as a starter.
Head coach Brian Kelly talked about the intangible issues of the quarterback chamber and much more in his recent interview with the media.
Continuity and experience with Rees and Book were key ingredients to the inevitable things Kelly mentioned in the interview.
Kelly received a lot of praise on sophomore quarterback Brendon Clark, discussed his immense physical tools. Like most young quarterbacks at Notre Dame, consistency has been the key, but Clark is projecting to the Irish head coach.
Here’s one example of Clark’s outstanding talent.
Kelly also talked about real newcomer signal callers Drew Pyne, who missed an opportunity to gain experience when the spring session was canceled. Kelly seemed to lighten up a bit when he started talking about Pyne, praising the priest for his mental makeup and the ‘command’ he was already showing on the position.
