Notes: NFLPA releases COVID-19 data, announces 72 players tested positive

We are now less than two weeks from the (current) start of training camp. For some teams, rookies are scheduled to report as soon is Saturday. With that in mind, the NFL Players Association released a wealth of data on the COVID-19 outbreak both in the United States and in the league itself.

According to the report, which you can see here, 72 NFL players have tested positive for the coronavirus as of July 10.

The website also provides follow-up, resources and state-by-state information for players and a reminder that their medical advice is to forgo any independent practice with other players.

As for how Allen Park (where the Lions facility is) and Detroit are doing, they also have that information:

Despite all of this data, it still seems like the NFL and NFLPA aren’t exactly on the same page as each other. JJ Watt tweeted a scathing statement Thursday, noting that the players have “not yet received a single valid Infections Disease Emergency Response (IDER) plan.” They have no idea if preseason games will be played. They don’t know if they will be evaluated daily or semi-daily, or how a positive test would affect their current contracts.

There’s still a lot in the air and time is running out.
