Notes: D’Andre Swift pushes Detroit Lions closer to ‘showdown-proof offense’

Normally at this point in the offseason, we would have a fair amount of rookie advertising. The rookie minicamp and face-to-face interviews would introduce fans to their team’s draft class, sparking excitement for the team’s newest and youngest players.

Unfortunately, with COVID-19 continuing to cancel NFL events, we really haven’t had a chance to meet all nine picks in the Detroit Lions draft this year.

His latest, courtesy of Chris Burke and Nick Baumgardner, breaks down the movie from Georgia running back D’Andre Swift, the Lions’ second-round pick.

Burke and Baumgardner do a good job, pointing to their strengths and weaknesses, but the most intriguing part is where they wonder aloud how Swift will team up with 2018 draft pick Kerryon Johnson.

“What I like most of all is that it pushes the Lions closer to that offensive-proof, greedy matchup,” Burke wrote. Play a defense that is robust on the inside but of poor quality on the edges? Maybe it’s a Swift game. Do you want to support yourself in internal careers? Maybe it’s Johnson or even Bo Scarbrough.

  • Jeff Okudah was discovered by the Big Ten Network All-Decade team, and he let everyone know:
