More than 20 people have been hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning after taking part in a rave in an underground bunker in the Norwegian capital Oslo.

Police say a group of youths were on patrol early Sunday when they were spotted by chance.

Then many more came out of a bunker and called for an ambulance.

Officials believe the poisoning was caused by portable generators.

Two of the 25 victims are believed to be police officers who were attended by party members.

“Fortunately, they are all improving. We can say they are out of danger,” Friedtzof Heardahl, chief physician at Oslo University Hospital, told the paper.

About 200 people are believed to have participated in the rave, according to Oslo police.

Police also called for medical help if other attendees developed nausea, headache or dizziness.

A man who had just left before police arrived told NRK that he had been out of the rave for fresh air on numerous occasions due to indoor air quality.

Oslo police say they are investigating why the tip-off about the rave was not prosecuted.
