Parts of the infection that is now spreading in Solør dates back to a party.

This week, the 400 students of Solør Videregående will be evaluated.

The youths that NRK met at the Haslemoen test station in Våler on Monday are listed.

39 infection in Solør

The students were sent home from school on Friday and have digital teaching until Easter.

The municipalities of Solør de Grue, Åsnes and Våler, which have just over 16,000 inhabitants, now have 39 cases of infection.

But they expect more when 400 students are tested.

Young people dare not say anything

Brendstrup and his colleagues at Solør have been told that it was a party with several young people, but they don’t know how many were present.

– Some say it was ten, others say it was 15. But we believe, and we hear rumors, that there may have been much more than that, he says.

The participants of the party have chosen not to say who was present.

The challenge with this is that the municipal physician does not get an overview of who may have been exposed to the infection.

– I can understand that they are afraid to say that they have been to the party because there have been many there, but it makes it difficult for us to trace the infection, says Brendstrup.

He says that several of the infections they have had in the last two weeks came from the party. It is both young people and close contacts with young people who are infected.

A kindergarten in Åsnes is also affected by the outbreak.

However, not all cases of infection are related to the youth environment. Some also come from visits from other areas with high infection pressure.

Smitten in Solør closes school with 1,300 students in Elverum

Since municipalities do not have an overview of how many young people may be infected, Solør’s upper secondary school has switched to homeschooling.

– Some of the infected are associated with the school, says Bo Brendstrup. More than 1,000 people have been tested in the region in recent days.

On Monday afternoon, the 1,100 students from Elverum Senior High School were also sent home.

The school is located in the neighboring municipality of Våler and has several students from Solør. The school leadership fears that the infection is also spreading among Elverum students.

Therefore, there will be a digital teaching for them until Easter.

Some of the students work near the school and have friends who work elsewhere. Therefore, the municipal doctor fears that the infection will spread.

– We strongly advise people to follow national guidelines, says municipal physician Bo Brendstrup.

Solør’s 400 upper secondary students are tested this week.

Philip Pildahl and Oskar Rønning, who go to the Solør Upper Secondary School department in Flisa, were among those who had to test themselves on Monday.

They weren’t at the party and they think it’s a shame that a youth party caused the infection to spread.

– It is unnecessary. We should be able to wait until it calms down and more people get vaccinated. It’s silly to have parties now before the Russian era. It is devastating for us since we are Russians this year, the boys say.

They understand that many will celebrate, but they were hoping they could wait a little longer. They are supported by Emma Ulfsbøl and Hedda Torkildsby, who are also put to the test on Monday.

– Not good. It has affected all of Solør, they say.

Students are encouraged to stay home and avoid meeting others until they have received an answer to the exam.

There will be no classes at the school until after Easter. Then both the director and the municipal doctor hope they have received an overview of how many are infected with the virus.

Infection rates in Solør have been low after a major outbreak before Christmas last year.

The police ask the participants of the party to be frank.

Solør municipalities introduced local corona regulations today due to the outbreak. Gyms are closed, there is a ban on drinking in restaurants and an order for a home office.

But they have not established a local regulation on how many people can visit.

Therefore, the police have less leeway to impose fines if there are more people together than the five on which national recommendations are based.

– If it is in the local regulations, we have more to deal with, says the police section chief in Solør Mathis Briskerud.

The police have not been involved in the party at Grue. They have heard of it but are not investigating.

Briskerud says that young people, therefore, should not be afraid to say they were at the party. It will not have criminal consequences for them.
