Since June 15, there have been exceptions to the entry quarantine in the Nordic countries, for regions where the spread of the infection is considered low.
The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) now recommends that the government introduce entry quarantine for six new districts in Finland. Among them is the border region of Lapland. Therefore, the entry quarantine will be applied at the Kilpisjarvi border crossing.
Last week, the government reddened the hospital districts of North Karelia and Vaasa in Finland. Following an increase in infection, FHI now proposes that Central Hämeenlinna, Southwest Finland, Lapland, Länsji-Pohja, Central Ostrobothnia, and Southern Ostrobothnia also be added to this list.
It is the government that makes decisions about which countries are covered by the ten-day entry quarantine. The updated travel advice will not be applied before the day after a new government decision.
