The dead woman, who was found Wednesday afternoon, is undergoing an autopsy today and police continue to question defendants and witnesses throughout the day.

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday. He is accused of causing the death of his 60-year-old mother. The charge is for aggravated battery that can result in a sentence of up to six years in prison.

No incarceration today

The police affirm that they are considering the preventive detention of the accused, but that it will not happen today.

– The idea is that we have to take advantage of today to investigate the case and investigate more about what happened. We question witnesses, perform an autopsy on the deceased, and conduct technical investigations. We weren’t ready to go to jail today.

That’s what the prosecutor in the case, Aleksander Tokle, told NRK.

Police officers with dogs today searched the plot in front of the house where the death occurred. The area is cordoned off.

– Very marked

The defendant’s lawyer, Torfinn Svanem, told the Nidaros newspaper today that, of course, the man is very affected by the situation.

– His mother is dead and has been arrested. It’s a psychological strain, says Svanem.

In addition, he says that the prison issue has not yet been clarified, but states that the defendant denies criminal guilt, without the lawyer wanting to go into more detail about the motive.

In addition to the deceased and the accused, another person must live in the home. But there is no indication that there were other people in the house when the woman died.

The police have received several leads on the case.

– We have received advice from people who live in the area and who believe they have information that interests us. We’re glad they got in touch and want even more advice, says Tokle.
