The woman called 113 once during “the most acute crown period” due to a sharp and severe headache and was even worried she might have had a stroke, writes Romerikes Blad.

She was taken by ambulance to Nedre Romerike’s emergency room around midnight, and there it was decided that she should be transported to Ahus for admission. It was still two hours before the ambulance was ordered, and the ambulance did not show up. At a quarter to five she was taken to the hospital. Two and a half hours after the ambulance was ordered, it reached Ahus. Investigations were conducted there with findings that led to her being transported to Rikshospitalet in intensive transport. In Rikshospitalet, the woman died.

The county governor of Oslo and Viken has opened a supervisory case against the emergency room Nedre Romerike and the Emergency Medical Communication Center (AMK) of the Oslo University Hospital (OUS). In the notification received by the Norwegian Board of Health, it is asked if there has been a communication failure between the emergency room and AMK.

Anne-Lise Kristensen, representative of patients and users, considers that the case is very serious.

– As we know the case, and based on the information we have, we see it as a very serious case that I am pleased that the supervisory authorities consider it. I hope they do it quickly, because if this says anything about the resource situation in the ER in Lillestrøm, it is important that the municipality quickly go in and make changes that will ensure patients a good deal, he says.

The case is being processed by the county governor, where statements are expected from AMK, who was given a postponed response period on August 28.
