– Discovery of the missing person has been made. He has died. It was teams from the Red Cross who made the discovery in the search area.
This is confirmed to NRK by Bård Einar Hoft in the Inland Police District.
The woman was found around 6.30pm on Friday. Family members have been notified.
Possible fall accident
The 69-year-old has owned a cabin in Dovre for many years. On Tuesday, she was going for a walk around the local area. The hut the woman came out of is located in Grimsdalsvegen, not far from the barrier leading to Grimsdalen.
Police received a message from the family that the woman was missing at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Three days later, she was found dead in the area.
Hoft says the woman was found outside, a short distance from the cabin.
– It was in a relatively inaccessible place. They found her in a ravine. It may appear that it was a fall accident.
Hoft has no information on how high the woman may have fallen. He claims that he cannot yet say anything with certainty about the cause of death.
Extensive search operation
Both the Red Cross, the National Guard and the rescue dogs searched the ground for the woman. A Sea King helicopter also participated in the search.
– The search operation has continued unabated until Friday afternoon, says Hoft.
Tuesday was thick fog and around seven degrees. Low temperatures and fog in the mountains made the search challenging.
