Today, the limit for private meetings is 20 people, including those who live where people gather. Now these rules will be tightened, according to information from VG.

VG also receives confirmation that the government wants to introduce requirements for private rooms on the barracks platforms and tests every three days for foreign workers in Norway. It was NRK who reported this first.

Health authorities have also proposed that foreign workers should maintain a distance of two meters in their free time, VG reports. At work, one meter should still be applied, according to the recommendation.

The government has announced that there will be new national measures as a result of the increase in infection in Europe and Norway.

The Norwegian Health Directorate proposes that the government intensify social gatherings in which municipalities over time have been more than 20 infected per 100,000 for 14 days, and where the increase in the level of infection is not due only to known outbreaks in progress, during the period of October 26 to December 7, 2020:

High import infection

Nakstad: squeeze

– We have recommended several measures for the government that are partly aimed at strengthening compliance with the regulations they apply, and partly at strengthening efforts in environments and situations where we know there is a lot of infection. For example, among business travelers coming to Norway for work and for young adults who still account for many of the cases of infection in Norway, Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad tells VG.

On Monday, the number of corona infections admitted to the hospital rose to 54, the highest number since May 15 this year.

– We have had an increasing spread of the infection in Norway since August and we have seen in other countries around us that when it starts to increase, we will have more hospital admissions and a greater pressure of infection on society. In the last week, we have doubled the number of infection cases and we want to be careful and reverse that trend before the problems become more unmanageable, says Nakstad.

– It increases very quickly when the infection spreads.

– How worrisome is a duplication?

– A doubling in itself is not particularly worrisome when it comes to a fairly low level, but it does not take many weeks with a doubling every week before the situation becomes completely different. This is what is so dramatic about this disease that when the first one begins to spread a bit uncontrollably in a society, it rises very quickly.

– To be prepared

According to Nakstad, the spread of the infection is still higher among young adults, but the percentage increase is higher among those between 40 and 79 years old.

– What do you think is the reason we ended up here again? That we have not managed to adequately keep it at a distance?

– This has been an expected development that we have seen for several weeks because we now live very normal lives with a lot of contact between us and an infection rate that has been around 1. This means that the pandemic has not had a downward trend, but rather a slight upward trend. And then we have learned that at some point we will have such a strong rise and so many local outbreaks that it will give a more worrying situation, he says.

– It is hoped that we have now recommended a series of measures to the government.

According to the overview of the VG crown, there are now 32 municipalities in Norway that have an increasing infection trend, 147 municipalities with a flat infection trend, and 3 municipalities with a decreasing infection trend. Among the municipalities with a growing trend, we find many of the largest cities in the country: Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Drammen and Sarpsborg.

– What will help more now?

– What will help the most is that we all comply with the basic rules. Staying home when we notice signs of respiratory illness and keeping a good distance between us. Furthermore, it is more important now than before that we limit the number of people with whom we are actually in social contexts in our everyday lives.
