Stay up-to-date on the NRK overview or on the FHI website.

Even though FHI does not recommend indoor sports and cultural activities for people over 19, Trondheim wants to open up for this.

The municipality’s director of culture and sports, Ola By Rise, is aware that this presupposes compliance with the two-meter rule. This means that, for example, contact sports such as football and handball must be adapted to your training.

It is also not allowed with more than 20 participants in all activities.

For example, in the case of choirs and choirs with several numbers of participants, they should be divided into smaller groups.

If the rules are not followed, the activities will be closed again.

– This is a trust that we show to our citizens. I hope trust is not abused, By Rise says in a press release.

Stands in a division

The reason for the ease of action is that infection rates have been low over time in Trondheim. Earlier this week, the presidency also chose to lift the order of sanitary napkins in public places.

This is happening at the same time that there is a growing trend in the country and several municipalities have introduced stricter restrictions.

Outbreaks are also ongoing in Trondheim and two new cases of the mutated virus were detected by Friday.

By Rise emphasizes that the municipality’s politicians have decided that to a greater extent they will make assessments based on local infection conditions. Therefore, now they choose to relax the measures, because the infection rates in general are not very high and they have good control of the transmission routes.

– Norwegian society is in a small division, and then it is important to be able to assess the infection situation locally, he tells NRK.

– We want to facilitate activity and quality of life on a day-to-day basis, and normalize ourselves where we can. But if this leads to an increase in infection rates or if the situation changes in the municipality, the road is short to close again.

May increase risk

The deputy director of the Norwegian Health Directorate, Espen Rostrup Nakstad, notes that there is an increased risk associated with accumulations inside and says that the probability of infection may increase a bit with such a reopening.

– We have seen several examples that good distance and good hand hygiene are not enough to prevent infection, he says.

At the same time, a limit of 20 people and activity in large, well-ventilated rooms will reduce the risk.

According to Nakstad, a lot depends on the degree of control that one has over the infection chains and the general infection situation in the municipality. But even though there are low infection rates at the moment, it’s important to monitor development closely, he emphasizes.

– The situation is very different in different parts of the country, but it can also change in a very short time.

Infection control to the end

Ola By Rise, Director of Culture and Sports in Trondheim, establishes as a premise for the reopening that people are good at complying with infection control rules before, during and after the activity.

Encourage people to avoid close social gatherings and activity-related co-pilot.

– Don’t let those with whom you participate in the joint activity become your close contacts, he says.

– We still have infection in Trondheim. If the activities are not carried out in a good and responsible manner, we must make changes again.
