Growth in search volume to rent cabins in popular mountainous areas has increased by 80 to 90 percent compared to the same period last year, new figures show, according to DN.
The most searched areas are Trysil, Geilo, Sjusjøen, Norefjell and Hafjell and Hemsedal, of which the latter has seen a 91 percent growth in search volume compared to the same period last year.
Finn.no Travel Business Director Terje Berge points out several reasons why there are so few mountain rental options this Christmas.
– First of all, there are many more this year who choose to stay in their own cabin between Christmas and New Years, as there are not so many other places you can travel to. Therefore, there will be fewer cabins available, Berge tells DN and continues:

– Foreigners are absent, but more Norwegians will travel to the mountains at Christmas, as now it is not relevant to travel abroad. Also, being in a cabin, away from people, is probably considered good and safe right now, rather than staying in a hotel, he says.
