When the daughter left for Rosenborg, she stopped saying good luck before the matches

Morten Hegland has followed his daughter Kristine Minde (28) through thick and thin throughout her career.

Of his 107 international appearances for Norway, he has been present in around 100 of them, according to the man himself. And as long as she plays with the flag on her chest, he will always wholeheartedly support his daughter in that arena.

So the club’s situation is worse.

– I hate Rosenborg
After a six-year foreign adventure in Linkøping and Wolfsburg, Kristine Minde decided to return to Norway this summer. The choice fell on the RBK women rushing forward, something that fell heavily on Daddy Morten’s chest.

– I grew up in a family that encourages Brann, but with a father who hates Rosenborg even more. He took it very badly when I told him I had signed for RBK, says Minde.

– Do you think you can turn it around?

– I really hope so. I intend to play the Champions League with this club and win the cup and the series with Rosenborg. So I hope you congratulate and see the decisive battles.

No good luck
12 games into the season, Rosenborg, which has taken the name and place of Trondheims / Ørn in Toppserien, has performed above all expectations. The team is in second place, two points behind league leaders Vålerenga, but with a less disputed match. In other words, there is a good chance that Kristine Minde will become a Norwegian league champion for the first time this fall.

In that case, you can’t count on Daddy Morten’s congratulations. For that, the antipathies against the Rosenborg club are too great.

He has not yet wished her luck before a match in the RBK kit, nor has he congratulated her after any of the six victories of the season.

– It’s not going to happen either. And she knows it. She was given a clear message before signing the contract. We talked about this in Germany this winter, before it was finally decided that she would go to Trondheim. For me, as a Bergen resident, traveling to Rosenborg is a utopia. No Bergen resident does such a thing, he says.

Teammates will win the Champions League for RBK-Kristine

Hegland does not hide that he has been criticized by his wife for his extremely harsh attitude, without changing his mind.

– She says “now you have to give up, think about your daughter.” But now she’s stopped nagging.

– What do you ask?

– That I must wish you good luck and congratulations on a victory. But no, that is out of the question.

– But this is your own daughter, whom you have followed your entire career. Can’t you ease the stubbornness a bit?

– I do not know. It is in the soul, that is. It has its origin in how (Nils Arne) Eggen fared in his day. Once I was on tour in Lerkendal and I went into one of the rooms where there are posters with 10-1 and 10-0 against Brann. I’m so tired of them, says Hegland.

And elaborates:

– They won 13 years in a row and I completely swallowed them. They collected rubles and chunks of good players in Norway. Now I agree with Molde and Bodø / Glimt. They are the ones who have saved the weekends of the past few years when Brann has fooled himself.

Couldn’t stand the suit
Hegland emphasizes that he has several good friends from Trondheim, including the father of Kristine Minde’s former partner in Wolfsburg, Ingrid Syrstad Engen.

National team profile ready for Rosenborg

This weekend he was in Trondheim and watched his daughter play a match against Røa (2-0 win).

– How was the experience?

– The girl played well, it was one of the best games she has played in a while. I hope he is in good shape before the international against Wales next week. But no, my body hurts when I hear people cheering in Rosenborg. Spin inside me, she says.

When Kristine joined Rosenborg, Hegland received an RBK suit as a gift from her father to Syrstad Engen.

-He didn’t even take the suit, says Kristine Minde.

– Mom had to unpack it for him. I don’t know where he is now.

Father Morten still disagrees that he “hates” Rosenborg, as the daughter puts it.

– Hate is a strong word that can be easily misinterpreted. In the true sense of the word, I don’t, but in the context of soccer, he’s probably right, he says.

If there was a golden duel between, say, Rosenborg and Vålerenga, and it’s exactly the same before the last round of the series, it’s actually not inconceivable that Morten Hegland would cheer on his own daughter.

– If it’s that constellation, it probably will. I must admit. But if it had been Rosenborg versus Sandviken, it would have been something else entirely. Then I would agree with Sandviken, he says.
