On Monday, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute will send a yellow warning for the areas of Agder, Oslo, Akershus, Buskerud, Vestfold and Telemark. Hazard warnings apply as of Wednesday afternoon and evening.
– In the interior and higher areas, there can be 10 to 30 centimeters of snow, meteorologists say.
On-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød tells Dagbladet that the most snow will likely come in Agder and West Telemark, where around a foot of snow can be expected locally.
– There may also be more. But this applies to mountainous areas and rural areas, says Granerød.
Granerød says mountain passes will be windy, stiff to strong winds, which means challenges are to be expected here Wednesday night and beyond Thursday.
– What gives this climate is a strong low pressure found in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea, which configures an area of precipitation towards the South and East, explains the meteorologist.
Further down the coast this will likely start out as sleet and snow, before increasing as you move inland and up the country. Further south it can also come in the form of rain.
