Fall is definitely here, and much of the country will notice it this weekend. It will be characterized by low pressure, and much of the country will have cloudy weather and rain for most of the weekend.
Snow over 800 meters
A yellow warning has been issued for western Norway and the mountains of southern Norway.
As of today, decreasing temperatures and eventually precipitations such as snow are expected in the mountain passes above 800-1000 masl. The snow will decrease overnight on Friday. A total of 5-15 cm of snow is expected, mainly in the west.
Uncertain weather forecasts
When we turn to the weather next week, the state meteorologist is unsure of the weather forecasts when it comes to eastern, central Norway, and northern Norway. When it comes to western Norway, you no longer have doubts:
Å Vestland, Vestland
– They will be the winner of the clear weather next week. High pressure gives them usable weather this weekend, and from Monday onwards next week there will be plenty of sunshine and good weather. After a rainy summer and fall, the western weather will be really nice, just the way you like it. They are absolutely the best in the entire country, says state meteorologist Martin Granerød at the Dagbladet Meteorological Institute.
High pressure in the Norwegian Sea hits western Norway and creates beautiful weather from Sunday until next week.
– It will be sun, sun and more sun. It will be 10-11 degrees during the day, and clear weather can also lead to negative degrees in some places at night, says Granerød.
The rest of the country will be characterized mainly by two low pressures and unstable weather next week.
– In southern Norway, there is a low pressure in Europe that can cause a climate with high rainfall. If this doesn’t go as far north as Norway, then there may be some sunshine and good weather in the south and east. The weather forecast is just a bit uncertain at the moment, says the meteorologist.
Ten degrees below zero
If the weather is good in this area, the meteorologist warns that it can be quite cold in the mountainous areas with temperatures down to minus ten degrees.
– The Hardangervidda and other high areas can have very low night temperatures if the low pressure doesn’t hit, then it will be less degrees in various places over 500 meters, says Granerød.
The climate in Trøndelag and northern Norway is also characterized by changes in cloud cover and weather construction.
– Here you will also experience that the temperatures will be much lower. Having experienced quite good temperatures for the season in recent weeks, central Norway will get between 6 and 7 degrees this weekend. Cooler weather on the trail.
Mud showers in northern Norway
The further north you go, the colder it gets. Troms and Finnmark may receive sleet showers next week.
– Low pressure on the northern side of the Norwegian Sea brings onshore winds and construction weather. Along the coast this will likely come in the form of rain, but in the lower inland areas there will be sleet showers, says state meteorologist Martin Granerød of the Dagbladet Meteorological Institute.
