CONCERNED: Deputy Director of Health Espen Rostrup Nakstad. Photo: Ørn E. Borgen

Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad asks people to stay away and organize the Easter party, after a busy night for the police on Easter Eve. FHI notes that the corona wave is not yet over.

Across the country, the police had to spend huge resources to stop the parties at home on Saturday.

This is what Nakstad responds to.

– Our clear call is: keep a distance, there is no party, he tells VG.

– We are concerned that young people do not adhere to the rule of not gathering more than five people and keeping a good distance. When you have a party, you break this and expose others to the risk of infection. We have seen several examples that home parties can cause a large spread of infection if some of the participants are sick, he explains.

FHI head doctor Siri Helene Hauge tells VG that they still recommend minimizing contact with other people.

– The virus does not take into account the holidays.

– The covid-19 outbreak is probably not over. We believe that the main wave is ahead, but it is important that the next wave is as low as possible so that the hospital’s capacity is not exceeded. Therefore, it is important that people continue to make efforts to prevent the spread of the infection. We must strive to comply with such measures for a long time, explains the superior.

Fest night

Trondelag Police District cuts twitter that they have received 18 messages on party noise and infringement rules, and that they have not been able to respond to all messages.

Police in the southwest told VG on Sunday morning that they stopped partying with more than 20 people present.

– It seems that people think this is over, and just do what you feel. There is no way, Nordland operations manager Remi Johansen explained to VG, they also had to stop several parties.

In Molde, the police had to move to a parking lot in the Molde shopping center, where some 50 cars had gathered, as well as a tractor.

“Detectives are concerned about the infection and theft,” police wrote on Twitter.

Justice minister asks people to persevere

For VG, the Minister of Justice, Monica Mæland, asks to hold on.

– I understand that many are impatient. But it is imperative that people continue to participate in the dugade and follow the authorities’ infection control rules. Because all of Norway has contributed to the dugade, the government will now gradually facilitate various infection prevention measures. But if not everyone continues to help keep the infection low, we may have to squeeze again. Of course, we would very much like to avoid having to do that. And then people have to endure, says Maeland.

On April 6, Health Minister Bent Høie stated that Norway has the crown epidemic under control and that government measures have worked. It was also claimed that the Institute of Public Health estimates that there are around 14,000 infected in Norway.

Earlier this week, the government announced that several of the intervention measures implemented in March will be facilitated. Starting April 20, the kindergartens will reopen, while the 1-4-step elementary school, as well as the OFS, will reopen on April 27.
